Gerrit Peele<\/strong> (born 1955) has been a certified master in natural stone craftsmanship since 1980 after completing his studies at the Stonemasonry Academy in Utrecht. As a restoration stonemason, he worked on major projects including the Dom Church in Utrecht, the St. Bavo Church in Haarlem, and the Basilica of Oudenbosch between 1990 and 2013. In 2012, Gerrit founded the Utrecht Stonemasons’ Guild Lettertijd<\/em>.<\/p>\n

His own work emphasizes the organic qualities of stone within the compositions. As Gerrit himself puts it:
\n\u201cI usually work with a clearly defined idea or design. For many of my ideas, nature served as a model. In the early 1990s, I was given the opportunity to sculpt in the studio of Lowie Eskes. There, I laid the foundation for my free work, in which nature has often been a source of inspiration.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
